Hello Families, Caregivers, and Supporters,
The Franklin/Randall Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) warmly welcomes you to a new school year! My name is Caitlin Voegele, and I’m honored to serve as PTO Board President this year. Whether you’re new to our school community or a veteran parent of Falcons/Raccoons, we’re so glad you’re here.
Our next PTO meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 10 at 5:30 PM in the Franklin Elementary Library (LMC) – we’d love to see you there! All caretakers are automatically PTO members, and the meetings are open to everyone and held monthly. If you’re looking for a way to stay connected with your student’s school, these meetings are a great way to stay informed and involved.
At each meeting, Principal Powers and Principal Wallace share in-person updates that offer valuable insight into what’s happening at Franklin and Randall. Last year, our meetings included meaningful discussions on topics such as the Behavioral Education Plan (BEP) used across MMSD and a private tour of the Community Center at the Bayview Foundation, where many Franklin and Randall families live and access services.
For more information about the PTO and how to get involved, please see 5 Things You Should Know About the PTO below.
We’re excited to work together to make this an engaging, memorable year for our students and school community. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
All the best,
Caitlin Voegele

5 Things You Should Know About the PTO:
#1 You ARE the PTO – All parents/guardians of Franklin students are automatic members of the Franklin-Randall Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). Membership is not based on any dues, fees, or registrations. So welcome or welcome back!!
#2 What the PTO does – The PTO helps parents get engaged, involved, and in-touch with what is happening at school. The PTO raises money that supports supply purchases, curriculum supplements, community engagement and events, and our students directly. The PTO also hosts bi-monthly events that allow you and your child to engage with their peers outside of school and stay connected.
#3 It’s easy to get updates from the PTO – The PTO has an email list (Google Group) for parents and teachers to share information and ask questions. The list is moderated, so only school-related information is posted. Add yourself by visiting: www.franklinrandallpto.org/mailing-list. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @franklinrandallpto!
#4 The PTO makes it easy to get connected to your child’s school – The PTO gets you involved with open meetings, volunteer opportunities, and offers a place to share your opinion about what’s happening at school. Whether you can volunteer or just want to be an informed parent, the PTO is for you!
#5 The PTO website is full of useful information – At the PTO website (right here!) you can find a school calendar, a schedule of PTO meetings, issues of the PTO newsletter, and a list of current volunteer opportunities, as well as contact info for key people within the PTO.
