PTO Board

The PTO Board acts as the leadership team of the PTO. The Board attends monthly meetings on the second Tuesday or each month. At a minimum, the PTO Board consists of the officers (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer), a minimum of four members at large, a fundraising chair, a volunteer chair and representatives from each PEG group.

See a current list of PTO Board members on the PTO Contacts page.

We are recruiting for the 2026-27 school year!

Vice President

Want to make a big impact on our schools and community? Consider serving as PTO Vice President!

Our model is that the Vice President steps into the President role the following year, so we are looking for a two-year commitment. This role is a great opportunity to support the current President, learn the ins and outs of the PTO, and make a meaningful difference.

Responsibilities for both the President and Vice President shift from year to year based on interests and experience, so there is flexibility to shape the role to your strengths. If you’d like to learn more, please email president@franklinrandallpto.org

Fundraising

Help the PTO raise the funds that make all of our amazing work possible!

We are looking for a Fundraising Chair to manage and lead our fall fundraiser. The fundraiser runs from October through December and typically requires 3–5 hours per month during that time. Much of the work can be done on a flexible schedule.

In addition, if you’re interested in getting more involved in the Franklin Playground remodel fundraising efforts, we would love your help. We are looking for support with donor outreach and grant applications as we begin planning the next phase.

Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator recruits and schedules volunteers for all Franklin-Randall PTO events and projects, and supports the School Secretaries in providing volunteers for school-based volunteers (lunch / recess support at Randall, Picture Day Support, etc.). The new Volunteer Coordinator will have the support of the previous Volunteer Coordinator, who is stepping into a different role, but who will be available for continual support throughout the year. This position requires managing Sign Up Geniuses, engaging with School Secretaries and other PTO Board members to ascertain volunteer needs, recruiting new volunteers at events, and communicating with volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator attends monthly PTO meetings, and must be responsive to emails. Ensure that all of our events go off without a hitch by becoming our next Volunteer Coordinator!

Committees & More

RoleBrief Description
Franklin PlaygroundThe Franklin Playground will be kicking off planning, communications, and fundraising for the second phase in 2026-2027. We need 1-3 more people to join our lean team and are especially looking for someone who can own and drive this phase forward. We have great momentum and we would love to have someone with more years to enjoy the Franklin Playground take charge.
Treasurer in TrainingWe have two amazing treasurers but one will be done after the 2026-2027 school year. We’d love to get another new parent involved early to learn the ropes to be the PTO treasurer in future years.
Directory SupportHelp to create the directory for the 2026-2027 school year! We can use parents that can help work with teachers to finalize the class lists. There may be other ways to collaborate as well.
Teacher Appreciation LeadHelp show our teachers some love by coordinating some snacks or events throughout the year. This is an opportunity for someone to do a few small things and be creative.
Newsletter EditorHelp share our information with our community by becoming a Newsletter Editors! You would be joining a very experienced and well-managed team. This requires 4-6 hours once every two months, as the Newsletter Editors are each “up” to curate the newsletter on a rotating basis. This work does not include writing copy, but rather organizing and curating content that is submitted by PTO members and community organizations trying to reach the PTO audience. This work can be completed on your own schedule as it is entirely online.
Small Event LeadThe PTO hosts a few small events each year and we’re looking for someone to help coordinate these events. Each event takes 1-2 hours of planning plus support at the event. All have been done for many years in a row and almost run themselves.
PrinterHave day time availability? We need parents that can make copies at the school for back pack flyers. We send home flyers 5-10 times a year and each time only takes 15 minutes per school so we’d love to have a few more volunteers to help.

Want to join the PTO board but don’t see a role for you listed above?

Email president@franklinrandallpto.org to chat and we can find you a place! We have many committees and interesting ideas that come our way and never enough people to get it all done. We would welcome another person to join the crew!
