Vice President
Want to make a big impact on our schools and community? Consider serving as PTO Vice President!
Our model is that the Vice President steps into the President role the following year, so we are looking for a two-year commitment. This role is a great opportunity to support the current President, learn the ins and outs of the PTO, and make a meaningful difference.
Responsibilities for both the President and Vice President shift from year to year based on interests and experience, so there is flexibility to shape the role to your strengths. If you’d like to learn more, please email president@franklinrandallpto.org
Fundraising
Help the PTO raise the funds that make all of our amazing work possible!
We are looking for a Fundraising Chair to manage and lead our fall fundraiser. The fundraiser runs from October through December and typically requires 3–5 hours per month during that time. Much of the work can be done on a flexible schedule.
In addition, if you’re interested in getting more involved in the Franklin Playground remodel fundraising efforts, we would love your help. We are looking for support with donor outreach and grant applications as we begin planning the next phase.
Glow Ball Lead
Did you love Glow Ball? We’re looking for someone to lead the planning and coordination of this event!
Glow Ball is our biggest social event of the year, with nearly 700 students, families, and staff attending. You’ll have the support of an experienced and enthusiastic team who can help you learn the ropes and ensure a smooth transition.
Please note: Without a dedicated lead identified by September 2026, Glow Ball will be canceled for the 2026–2027 school year.
Directory
We are looking for someone to create the school directory for the 2026–2027 school year. The directory is built in In Design.
Work typically begins after the third Friday in September, when class lists are finalized. An experienced parent is available to help you learn the process and support you along the way.
School Supply Kits
Do you love the convenience of ordering school supplies through the PTO’s supply kit program? We are looking for a parent to manage this program beginning this spring so kits can be delivered to families over the summer.
The total time commitment is approximately five hours to get everything set up.
Please note: Without a volunteer to lead this effort, school supply kits will not be offered this year.
Community Engagement Lead
Want to strengthen our school community and make a difference for Franklin-Randall families? Become our Community Support Lead.
This role primarily means liaising with our school social workers to manage initiatives that support members of the Franklin-Randall Community. Regular management of the Community Closet at Franklin will require approximately 5 hours per month, scheduled at your convenience during school hours (The PTO Volunteer Coordinator can also work with this Lead to recruit volunteers to support this effort). Other projects that have been facilitated in the past are organizing a food drive when needs arise, liaising with Bayview Staff to coordinate hosting PTO meetings at their space, organizing transportation to PTO events, and potentially engaging with the Grants Team. This is a reimagined role from previous years, and we are also open to your suggestions and ideas for ways to engage across our entire community!
Volunteer Coordinator
Ensure that all of our events go off without a hitch by becoming our next Volunteer Coordinator!
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits and schedules volunteers for all Franklin-Randall PTO events and projects, and supports the School Secretaries in providing volunteers for school-based volunteers (lunch / recess support at Randall, Picture Day Support, etc.). The new Volunteer Coordinator will have the support of the previous Volunteer Coordinator, who is stepping into a different role, but who will be available for continual support throughout the year. This position requires managing Sign Up Geniuses, engaging with School Secretaries and other PTO Board members to ascertain volunteer needs, recruiting new volunteers at events, and communicating with volunteers.
The Volunteer Coordinator attends monthly PTO meetings, and must be responsive to emails.
Newsletter Editor
Help share our information with our community by becoming one of our Newsletter Editors!
Newsletter Editors do the “behind the scenes work” to create and distribute our biweekly PTO Newsletter. You would be joining a very experienced, well-managed team, and would have a lot of support in learning the ropes of this position. This requires 4-6 hours once every two months, as the Newsletter Editors are each “up” to curate the newsletter on a rotating basis. This work does not include writing copy, but rather organizing and curating content that is submitted by PTO members and community organizations trying to reach the PTO audience. This work can be completed on your own schedule as it is entirely online. If you are intrigued but not ready to commit, please let us know and we will be happy to connect you with a current Editor so that you can get a behind-the-scenes look at this position.
